Redesigned Website for Vacation Rentals
The client had an existing wordpress website that was out of date. The company had made changes to their property portfolio: selling, buying, building, and renovating. It was time to showcase the beautiful vacation properties with an attractive, professional and up-to-date website.
Having their own website means Meeting Hill Cottages (MHC) owns the heart of their web presence. While platforms like Airbnb can be very useful, they also come with their own restrictions - like not letting the customer know the exact location before booking - and it's a good idea to have (and provide customers with) multiple options. MHC is listed on google maps' hotels for Rocky Harbour, so anyone can find them - and their listing links to their website, which also links to their listing on Airbnb. Everything works together to provide MHC with the best marketing coverage.
The Build
The new website has a page for each rental unit, with lots of photos, an illustrated list of property features as well the house rules. Renters want to know what they're getting before making a booking. From each rental unit page the client can book the property by either contacting the owners directly or via Airbnb.
The homepage highlights MHC's credentials with Canada Select and the municipality of Rocky Harbour - important social proof that gives customers confidence in booking. I also used an attractive animation and peaceful beach video on the homepage. I included a "Things To Do" page to help tourists plan their vacation in Gros Morne.
As with any modern website, it's important it work well on a cellphone - especially as people are going to be driving to the properties. I linked the address to google maps, for ease of navigation. The colours and styles were chosen for consistent branding, using both the logo colours and the shades of paint used on the new and renovated properties.
Secure Transfer
I helped Laurie set up her own Webflow account so that she can keep her website securely in her own account, after I transferred it to her, and invite me to be a guest developer. This is a very useful Webflow feature, it means website owners do not have to divulge their password to any developer, but the developer can still work on the site when necessary and permitted.
